This year the annual HGTV Dream Home giveaway will be in St. Simons Island Georgia. Atlanta Magazine offers us a “sneak peak” inside the 2017 HGTV ‘s Dream Home in an interview with Atlanta Interior Designer: Brian Patrick Flynn.
The remodeled 1980’s coastal abode pay direct tribute to it’s picturesque water setting. Flynn states “There are five spaces in the house that fit the classic blue-and-white scheme: the pool lounge, the pool lounge bathroom, the master bedroom, the laundry room, and the master bathroom. Those rooms are all geared towards tranquility, which is the reason for the coastal color combination”.
A deliberate effort was made by Flynn not to encase the home in redundant and predictable “beach-y” accents. Instead, he drew inspiration from the nearby marshlands. Incorporating textures and decor elements that defined a sophisticated and southern coastal style.
The blue-and-white laundry room also features a gorgeous patterned wallpaper. Wallpapers are a returning design trend for 2017. In a small space, such as a laundry room or powder room —wallcoverings can make a dramatic design choice.
